Total 911
Running from 2005 until late 2024, Total 911 was an internationally renowned, UK-based publication that held a unique position in automotive journalism: it was the world’s only magazine dedicated entirely to the Porsche 911.
I had the privilege of shooting a visually striking feature for Issue 204 of Total 911 magazine. Titled "Psychedelic Dream," the spread showcases a bold tribute to Gérard Larrousse’s legendary Tour de France Automobile 911 ST. The car is incredibly close to home: it was built by my father and sister, Tim Abbot and Jen Abbot, at our family business, Abbot Cars, here in South Africa. Starting life as a 1980 911 SC, it was meticulously transformed into a 2.9-litre, Weber-carbureted ST tribute, complete with widened arches and an unmistakable yellow-and-red psychedelic livery. Paired with words by Johann Venter, my goal with the photography was to capture the raw, analog spirit of this build in motion and translate my father's childhood dream onto the printed page.
